Great great Grandmother

Jane (Lang) Bowler

1759 – 179_ later than’92

According to her husbands Bible record Jane was born March 20, 1759 but the church record in Portsmouth N.H. gives her date of Baptism July 9, 1758 on the South Church records. (Henry Hardon says of her "The date Mch. 20, 1759 can not be reconciled with the record of Rev. Samuel Harens in South Church. I think it possible that the entry in the Bible was incorrect. There can be no mistake in date of baptism. There is no other Jane Lang of suitable age to marry Bowler and if she did not marry him she is unaccounted for. She had a brother Stephen and this may account for her naming a son Stephen Lang."

Hardon is so well posted on the Langs that I have taken his decision rather than Arthur Acherman of Boston with whom I corresponded and whose reply is with my notes.

Great great grandmother Jane was married Oct. 14, 1779 and was the mother of at least seven sons our ancestor being the 7th and so recorded in Bible given to him by his father.
