8984

The 8984 is a 40,000 watt tetrode designed by RCA for use in UHF-TV applications up to 300 MHz. This tube was made by Brule and was used as a visual power amplifier in a Harris TV50H transmitter at KOVR, channel 13 in Sacramento. The original RCA number for this tube was the 4690. Several of these tubes were obtained from the TV station. Their weight required the use on a winch to bring them to ground level. The second photo shows 2 tubes and their boxes on the way down.
